This will be a 2 part-er instead of 3. Although it took a lot out of me I really did enjoy it. Also, if you are interested in any of the films they are still on for this weekend. 16th - 18th.
And here is a reposting of my ratings; the more the slaughter, the better:
65 million years later - will never die by raptors
Ex-raptor feeding grounds - small chance of raptor death (much like being hit by lightning)
Raptor feeding grounds - decent chance of death but possible survival
1 raptor - will die but not after lots of torturous waiting as it stalks you
2 raptors - will die after they start eating you
3 raptors - will die before you even see the other 2
Raptor nest - will die with a vengeance
Raptor hunting party - signing you soul away could not protect you
Unearthed - Crap, pure and udder crap. This film is about the disappearance of the Anasazi tribe. It starts out decent, well enough for a standard B-movie. But then came the explanation of the plot. It took all of 5 mins from cave drawings. And it wasn't like these elaborate cave drawing, no, it was the people reading the cave drawings. First, it was some intelligent creature, then it was an alien, then it was an alien bent on our destruction, then it was an alien that was peaceful and "something" happen to make it turn on us. Then it turned into a alien researcher that came to investigate our world's species that turned on us. Then there was the alien itself. Was it cool looking? Yes. Was it original? No. So what did it look like? It was an alien from the movie Aliens. Yeah. No, it didn't look kinda like it, it look exactly like it. Next, bad, bad, bad, terrible acting and direction. This movie is crap. If you ever come across it; burn it, destroy your TV, gouge your eyes out. It is better than sitting through an hour and a half of this shit.
Rating: 65 million years later - I don't think I need to add to that.
The Deaths of Ian Stone - I was looking forward to this film. Not high expectations but high enough. And it didn't disappoint. Cool concept. A man dies everyday, and when he wakes up he is in a new life with very little, if any, memory of the previous. And he has to figure out why this is happening to him and who is doing it. Fun stuff. The acting isn't to shabby. Dramatic, sure. But a good time. Granted you can figure out the entire story about halfway into it but it is still good to watch. Bad points. Apparently, the are spirits out there that feed on fear and can kill you whenever they feel like it and you have no control in the matter what so ever. And, at the end, we are told that there is this one spirit who found a way to kill his own kind and he is the only one. And then all the other spirits attempt to take him down; well, if he is the ONLY spirit who can kill his own kind, wouldn't the others try to avoid him at all costs since they don't know how to kill him? Huge plot hole in my opinion.
Rating: 3 raptors - It is an intense film. And even though you may have figured it out you never really know til the end.
Borderland - Out of every 8 films there has to be the best and this is it. This was the best one, of course, I am a little bias. I really like movies about Mexico. Desperado, Once upon a time in Mexico, From Dusk til Dawn, Way of the Gun. They are like people from today, trapped in the old west. Actually, I guess it really is that I like movies in third world economies. Anyway, this is based on a true event on the Mexican border. A satanic cult that slaughter people for rituals of power. Many were caught, many are still at large today. This is about 3 guys who go across the border to have a good time. One gets nabbed and the others try to find him. And, of course, are way over their heads. The first of the 8 to have some stars in it. First is Rider Strong; you may remember him from Boy Meets World on Disney. And second, probably the most under-rated actor (IMO) Sean Astin, Sam from Lord of the Rings. Top notch film, really. If your gonna see any or you debated to see any, this is the one hands down. The thing I loved about it was realism. This was as real as you can get, in a horror film, to a real occurrence of events.
Rating: Raptor nest - not a perfect score because it was still a little corny in some places
Lake Dead - This is the T&A film of the 8. Even though there is only one girl that gets naked and she dies pretty quickly. Well, not quickly, but is dies early on. Cool way too, pick axe through the cheek (her face) and pinned to a tree. Still alive for a while. But this one was bad in plot. The acting was so-so. But gwad the plot. Incest, that is what it boiled down to. Some family wanted to keep the blood line uber pure, so incest was there answer. And anyone who got in the way was killed. Not mention that 2 of the family members (conceived by mother and son) were portrayed and retarded and deformed, as well as freakish-ly strong and violent. It was stupid.
Rating: Raptor feeding grounds - the naked girl was pretty hot IMHO
