Horrorfest 2007

Okay, this has been advertising for a while but I just saw it tonight and guess who has two thumbs and is going..."This Guy (points both thumbs at self with stupid smile)" 8 new films. 3 nights. 3 on Friday, 3 on Saturday, and 2 on Sunday. I even bought an all access pass. This is great. I hope this happens every year. This will be like my one big annual thing (next to ren faire/seeing the Jolly Rogers).

Please, Twins!

Not as good as the Please, Teacher!, but still good. It seemed that this series was made by the same guy who made the OVA of Please, Teacher!. It was little more cartoonie. But, when it wasn't, it was just as good as Please, Teacher!. It starts with three strangers, all of whom were adopted and they all have the same picture of 2 baby children playing in front of a house. One male and one female. The main characters have one additional female though. So, who is the twin and who is the stranger? This is the question of the series all way to episode 11, after that the question is how will they continue. During the course of the series the girls find out that they are in love with their maybe brother. And they both hope that they are not the twin so they can be with him, but one of them is the twin. So, they make a pact to not ask him on a date, to tell the other immediately if they find out who is the twin, to support the other in their relationship when they find out which one is which, and make sure that they are the only 2 that Mike has to choose from for a girlfriend. Meanwhile, Mike discovers that he does love both of them and really doesn't want to know the answer. No hanky panky goes on between all the main characters except the accidental 'trip and kiss', the intentional kiss (one of the girls can't contain her emotions), and the accidental 'running into your roommate while they are naked/in a compromising position. There is; however, compared to Please, Teacher!, a lot of nudity. Now usually there is some warning saying that all nudity is depicted as the characters being of legal age. Well, the main characters are all around 14-15 years old (they are all the same age, it just never comes up how old they are; however, they are freshmen or sophomores in high school. That is made apparent since all the main characters from Please, Teacher! are now in there senior year). Anyway.

There is a lot of nudity. But there is so much so often that the fact they are naked kinda washes out. You see, just about every episode the girls have a bath together (Japanese custom) and they talk about...well, what girls talk about. The last episode, though, all the female characters of the entire series are seen naked. But the problem I had is that this runs on the underage nudity (thank gawd it isn't pre-teen). Also, another point about the nudity. I like how they didn't make it the focus. Whenever the girls are naked, you may see their whole naked body but it is like they are dolls. "They're smooth 'round the bend," and they have the faintest of nipples. They have nipples because they point out, but the coloring is practically the shade of their skin so they are barely noticeable. You can see them, but barely. Anyway.

I really didn't want to watch the last stuff. I didn't want it to end. I have been so impressed by both series that I just want the to keep the story alive. I didn't like the ending that much but it was inevitable. Well, I'm done with the animes for a while. On to more movies.

At a glimpse...

The costume party...
The part was good, saw a lot of people I knew, had fun conversing. Checked out the decorations, excellent work btw. They turned the living room into the milk bar in Clockwork Orange. Very, very good job on it. They turned the downstairs bathroom (which has the laundry room in it) into the computer core room of Space Odyssey 2001; complete with a giant Hal 9000 computer, with blinking eye, looking at you while you poo. The Dining room was the beer game room but it was decorated with army stuff to resemble Full Metal Jacket. And the front room was decked out as the hotel in the Shining complete with room 209 posted on the bathroom door at the top of the stairs. There was a lull in the party about mid-way. Chips, Whit and I felt left out. but that changed when we started with the beer games; beer pong and tippy cup. There was even fire dancing. For real. Not someone on fire, but real Hawaiian fire dancing. Saw some old friends, met some fine ladies. No nookie this time, which is a good thing. They may have been fine but I'm quite certain that a number of other men thought so too well before me.

The birthday party...
Now, although not nearly as good as the costume party, it was just good enough for a wind down party from the previous night. Again, saw some old friends and met some fine ladies. One of them thought she was extra fine. She was good lookin' and I'm really happy I got out of there quick otherwise she would have snagged my ass. In case I have never said so...I'm easy...sort of. I still have my own tastes (which are mostly concepts instead of physical characteristics), but if I squint just right...well you can figure out the rest.

I really don't want to be at work today. This is why I hate when I have to do things on the weekend. I always feel like I missed an entire day of rest. I don't want to see or talk to anybody. I just want to go home. I also really need to work on getting more sleep, but getting up and going to work and having like 5 hours to relax and get chores done sux...so I usually squeeze in 2 more hours, but it kills me for work. I know, I know. But this is my first real full time job. And I put up with the schedule for almost a year now. I love this job, I just really needed another day.

Oh, and I had another fraudulent charge on my credit card. It is a good thing I check that stuff. This time they had my numbers but used a different name. A Mario Nuwega? or something. They used it on a mobile software tech site...and me having no kind of mobile tech...again, you can put the pieces together from here.

Do you notice my apathy? All this, "You figure it out", crap. Oh well, just one more week and I got three days off and work one day then 2 more off due to weekends. I'm really looking forward to that.

Master Chief

I went to go see MC Chris last night. For those who don't know, he is the white rapper for the nerd/geek/gamer. It was a good show but I seem to have a lot of crap on the brain that I didn't get to enjoy it very much. I don't even remember what all of that crap was. Anyway, some of you may know MC Chris from Aqua Teen Hunger Force. He had a few guest spots as the continuously reincarnated rapper MC PeePants. Some stuff I don't like about him and some I do. For instance, you can ONLY get a cd of his if you go to the show. He doesn't restock merchandise; once it is sold, its gone. Eh. Apparently his hard drive and external drive went out on him before the concert so the show was cut short. The opening band was cool enough. A few good songs and they had the end boss fights of Final Fantasy VII playing on the big screen. It was lame though, whoever was playing that game was trying to drag out the fights while the band was on stage. Stupid jack ass dragged it out to long and they had to cut it in the middle of the last boss fight. Rookies. I've beaten that game like 8 times; I could time those boss fights from the grave. Which...would be cool. Zombie T kickin' some major ass in Final Fantasy VII, "He's still got it (thumbs high)".

Anyway, the concert was fun, the opening band was cool. Chips and I got stood up by Dr. B. The concert didn't start til 10:30 (scheduled at 9). Did my best to keep away from the smoke.

I think I was pissed because of the late start time, being stood up, the constraint on my time schedule, not getting the full show, not having enough money on hand to obtain some swag, feeling uncomfortable in my clothes (this is probably the biggie for me; nothing I hate more than not feeling comfortable in my own skin). And I bought the wrong size of fabric for the costume party. The last isn't a biggie but still got to go out of my way to fix it before tonight.

"MC stands for MASTER CHIEF!!!"

Please, Teacher!

Okay, I loved this series. I loved it. I had a great time watching it. Some say it started slow, I don't think so. Well, it did, but it had to. That is how a good story draws you in. What I loved about this series is the context. Love. This is the kinda love I believe in. A love that surpasses all boundaries imposed upon you by what society has said to be right and wrong. It is love people, there is no right and wrong when it comes to love. And this series shows that. The female is a typical career-oriented 23 year-old. Didn't have much in the way of relationships when she grew up because she was so driven. And the male is a little interesting. Legally, he is 18 but still has the mind and body of a 15 year-old. Yet, when he lost those 3 years he seem to grow mentally only. Anyway, a 15 and 23 year get married and hide that fact because she is also his teacher. This relationship stays secret throughout the whole story but it is hiding it that makes the story. In addition, this isn't the only story line. It turns out that one of the male leads friend's also has the same condition he has only she looks 15 but is really 21 legally. So, he helps her from scumming to the disease again, for fear of losing more time, by attempting to love someone else for her. His new wife is torn because she knows that it is important to him but she discovers that she is in love with him. In addition to that story line, there is another having to do with 2 of the friends of the male lead trying to build a relationship and struggling because they both have very different plans for their futures. And on top of that, the girl the male lead attempts to love is very much in love with him but, towards the end of the story, we find out that she has been seeing a teacher also. This is after the male lead breaks up with her, again. But the story always signaled that they this male teacher and her might hook up. And with a jealous sister and over-sexed mother of the female lead and you get a great story with no bias. No one really even mentions the age difference between the couples. Barely do they even mention the problem with teacher and student having a relationship. Even the principle says that that is how he meet his wife. And the mother and sister record the female lead and her husband, the male lead, having sex in order to sell it. And no one is really put off by this. This series is amazing.

I wanted to see this series because it got rave reviews, not a lot of them, but they were very rave. I didn't expect it to be that good. I don't have high hopes for relationship animes. They always seem either over the top or very dull and quite. The series is 12 episodes long with a 13th OVA episode. OVA is basically 'direct to video'. The series had such great reviews that they did an extra episode for the fans. The last episode wasn't written by the same guy nor is the animation the same; close, but not the same. And the last episode has sex in it where the series just makes you presume that it happen. Basically, the 13th episode is a fanboy episode. But still is good.

I'm trying not to get my hopes up for the next series, Please, Twins!. It is a spin-off using the same town and school and even some of the same characters. The story is about 3 people meeting at the same place where a certain photograph had been taken. Apparently they were friends, based on this photo anyway, but they don't remember it. Then they find out that 2 of the 3 are twins. There is one guy and two girls. They all know that the guy is one of the twins, but which of the girls is the other? Problem is that this comes out after the girls have fallen for the guy and he for them. The dilemma here isn't teacher/student but incest. The reviews are just as rave about this one as they are of the other. So we'll see. The next one after that, in the series of relationship anime, is Love Hina. I played a decent game of this one some time ago and discovered the anime not long after that. This time, it is one guy with 7 female prospects.

Well, it is the start of a very long weekend coming up and the roommates are gone as of this morning. They did a spot clean of the place. Decent, but I will do better. And one more day of work til weekend, even though it feels like it is here already. They are getting more involved with work stuff so I feel more part of the team and not so much in fear of losing my job since I did very little.

I'm also a little anxious about this costume party. I hooked up at the last one. This time I invited a few people that I'm kinda interested in as well as few other having been invited by others that I kinda was interested in also. Oh, well. I'll just have a some fun and worry about it in the morning, I guess.

Passin' the time

So my car's rear window was broken yesterday. But was fixed and now I'm 350 poorer...sort of. Anyway, almost 3 weeks down and 2 left with a fantastic 3 days of during the last week. I'm going to enjoy the hell out of those days. Also this weekend the roommates are gone, yay! Place all to myself for a few days.

Okay, Netflix update. Well, I left off at Flesh Gordon I think. A fun show but not fun enough to watch at normal speed. The planet Porno is hitting the earth with a sex ray causing everyone to spontaneously have orgies where ever they are.

Open Your Eyes was the latest flick. This is the original version that spawned Tom Cruise to make Vanilla Sky. Aside from a few small changes, it was the exact same movie. Penelope Cruz even plays the same character in both movies. However, with one small alteration. Boobs. I never really liked Penelope, attraction wise. Way to skinny. But damn does she a pert rack. If you ever wanted to know what prefect breasts look like it would be hers. Now, I don't believe in perfection when it comes to the massive flaw that is man, but on an artistic view of what perfectly sculpted breasts would look like, she has them. I can see her beauty, always have been able to, and I still don't find her all that attractive (still to skinny); but those tits are an 11 out of 10.

Now, the next stuff. Please Teacher! is an anime series i just started watching. I didn't know what to expect but it got rave reviews so I put it in my Queue. It is about a half alien human comes to earth to watch over things and if discovered by a boy who has a rare medical condition. So rare, that he is the only one with it, ever. He has episodes he calls 'standstills'. He goes into comas when he is stressed out and during these comas he frozen in time...sort of. He went into a coma at the age of 14 and didn't come out of it for 3 years. During that time his body didn't age at all. So, today is pretends to be a 15 year-old kid (which he is mental wise) but is really 18 years old. And through a series of 'unfortunate' events he and the alien (which also his new teacher) got married. Interesting so far, only 4 episodes in. The next series is Please Twins!. we'll see how that one pans out.

I need to get to the fabric store for some toga gear, today. As well as some sewing thread. New pants and they are already tearing.

I will never get to play Haunting Ground. I just got Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix on PS2. Being playing the hell out that. At least it will be done tonight.

All Before Noon

So I wake up today and wouldn't you know it. My roommate decided to shower at the exact time I do every morning. Okay, no harm no foul. But then I get to my car, close the driver side door and my back window smashes all over the back seat. Someone or something had hit my window causing it to spider-web. I drove it to a glass shop next to my mom's place and was going to borrow her car. Turns out, her car wouldn't start. So we car around for a jump. We get my brother but he doesn't have jumper cables. So we take the battery to a auto store to get it charged...battery is dead so we need a new one. The car works now, but my mom wanted to fill the tank and tires before I took it...she worries. Then we get a call that my car will be ready by noon. We got that call at 11am. I have been late enough so I decide to go to work and pick it up later. What a day, what a day. Now I have three files to enter into the system of which I have practically no clue how to do but the others here feel confident in my ability. I think I'll pass on that and just say I don't know for today. Whatever I can do to lesson the stress of this morning. Besides, I would feel very comfortable going over this again...and again.

Grinding to the nub

Well, half of the week gone and nothing interesting really. I beat Battle for Middle-Earth. That was fun. I went out a bought my own copy and found a Battle for Middle-Earth anthology. That's one, two (the collector's edition), and the expansion for two (the rise of the witch king). I'm eager but I am told that the gameplay is all sorts of different from the first, which is one quality I really got into and which set it apart from other strategies games i.e. starcraft and warcraft. I also pick up the entire FFXI with 3 expansions, playonline (?), and tetra master (??) for 20 bones. Don't know if I'll play it though. This mainly for my collection of Final Fantasy. For 20 bucks, yeah, I'll pick that up. Also, I had been meaning to pick up the last of my favorite four of eight horrorfest films; Reincarnation. A Japanese flick about a killer who kills like 12 people in a hotel and to test to see if they'll meet in the next life. Cool concept, a cool film for Japanese horror/suspense. Nothing flashy, they tend to get a lower budget for their films. This is what makes some of the appeal to Asian cinema. Small budgets mean creative story and direction.

Anyway, I finally buckled down and went to get some new clothes at Goodwill. I had been meaning to go for over a month. I had a plan to hit every goodwill to find the right stuff. Well, I've only went to one and got over 70 bucks worth (which as you know is a shit ton...and a shit ton is about the size of a ton of crap but bigger than a shit load). I might hit the others to find if I can get anything else that fits. I think I have rounded out my wardrobe for now, though. Oh, also got my highlights again. All set to look pretty for the up coming gatherings.

My next batch of netflick will arrive today. Finishing off the Reiko set with Girl Boss Guerrilla, Delinquent Girl Boss: Worthless to Confess, and Terrifying Girls' High School: Lynch Law Classroom. This part of the Girl Boss series, which is in reference to the female Yakuza gang leader. The others are Intimate Games, a sexplotation comedy from England (a lot of these came out in the 80's and 90's. Sexplotation is in reference to action with topless girls) and Flesh Gordan. That's right, Flesh Gordon. I've always been curious. And even though when it came out is was listed as XXX, it is now considered soft core with today's view on pornographic films. Anyway, I am a fan of the crapfest that is Flash Gordon. It is so bad that you just have to swallow your shame of watching it and just enjoy how hilarious it is, kinda flick. So, why not add porn to that mix. Let's see how funny this is going to be.

"And I said, 'Liked it? I loved it!' HAHAHAHA"

You will only get that title if you watched as many Chris Seaver films as I.

So, I nearly a month later and guess what? I got to watch Quest for Egg Salad. That's right, 6th time is a charm. Compared to Chris's other films, it was pretty tame and boring, but I was determined to enjoy every minute of it...and I did. We also had the Drawn Together: Season 1. I wanted to find out if was more entertaining without all the bleeps and censor bars. Nope. I was more entertaining on Comedy Central. And last was my Hercules films. Flashback city.

I popped, briefly, back into social circles and in less than 10 hours, I was getting wrapped into drama city. Jeez people. Anyway, one week down, approximately four to go.

Long Month

Okay, so I have plans out the wazoo. I had a doctor appointment yesterday, and hair cut (but had to re-schedule due to a long doctor appointment). I have a 'talk' tonight that I must conduct. I have dinner (supposedly) tomorrow. I have the re-scheduled hair cut on Tuesday. I have a small game night next Saturday (supposedly). A Halloween party on the 19th. A B-day party on the 20th. A dead line to meet by the 22nd. The Jolly Rogers are going to be a Val's on the 27th, which, btw, I don't care where or what else is going on...I'm going to that. And (hopefully) 3 days off starting the 30th for a wedding.

Now that may not seem like a lot, but combine it with trying to chew through 8 seasons of M*A*S*H, as much Netflix as possible, and try to beat HauntingGround so that I can move on to the next game a finish these lists, as well as clean and re-arrange my room to how I like. Get the house on a bit of a clean schedule. Shop for new clothes at the Goodwills (I really need it. I'm almost down to rags). And counsel a few friends. This is what takes a lot out of me. It's just that most of the time all they want is company and very little advice. The stigma of a counselor. You never understand why people don't listen; kids don't listen cause they don't know how (well, fully how yet); adults...well, I think it is because they just want people to tell them they are doing the right thing and effing up all the time. Now, I take everything people tell me, about me, to heart. You think I'm effing up, tell me. I either know and do so cause it is funny to me, or am completely oblivious to it. I do enjoy the people that want me to listen, hell, anybody to listen. They just need to vent. This I like. This I enjoy. And usually I offer a different POV for them to look at or think about. But man the ones who just...in one ear and out their ass.

Anyway, I had my little sabbatical from the world and now time to re-enter a few circles. And wouldn't you know. I take a little time off, and when I come back it is like all hell broke loose. Well, it feels like that. In truth, it is more like I am re-entering hell. Oh, let me make one thing clear. My definition of hell and yours are 2 completely different things. It isn't fire and brimstone. It isn't torturous. It isn't an eternity of anguish and suffering. It just seems like it. My hell is life itself. The struggle of day to day. Some days to take 2 steps forward and some you take 5 back.

I have a few sayings from my ancient wisdom calender.

Unless we agree to suffer, we cannot be free from suffering.

If you do not get it from yourself, where will you go for it?

I find hope in the darkest of days, and focus in the brightest. I do not judge the universe.

All wisdom is rooted in learning to call things by the right name.

If ordinary people know, they are sages. If sages understand, they are ordinary people.

To understand the currents of the river, he who wishes to know the truth must enter the water.

He who knows others is wise: he who knows himself is enlightened.

To know the road ahead, ask those coming back.

A mind all logic is like a knife all blade. It makes the hand bleed that uses it.

And my favorite:
If you are irritated by every rub, how will your mirror be polished?

Accomplishments

I finished Season 3 of M*A*S*H. Only 8 more to go. I got the first 2 movies of Hercules, unbroken this time, from Netflix. Ahh, good memories. I also, accidentally, got the Xena chronicles of Hercules didn't really care to listen to them, fast forward through them. Street Fighter II: the animated movie. Ehh. And Quest for Egg Salad, which was broken again. I am committed to this, now. I didn't get to play Haunting Ground but I did play The Battle for Middle Earth. It is Warcraft/Starcraft type. Build an army to beat the bad guy. Well, I really like being able to play the bad guy and conquer Middle Earth. I have even killed Frodo already and recovered the ring. All that is left is to destroy Minas Tirth. I have killed the whole fellowship except Gandalf; haven't encountered him yet. I'm currently going around and collecting all the points from conquering the surrounding regions so that I may be able to summon a Balrog for the final battle. If you can follow me, don't worry. The best was fighting in Shelob's Lair. I had no money for new troops and I had to stave off wave after wave after wave of Gondor Troops while trying to find Frodo while he was invisible. I had to use The Eye to spot him. I was cool. And Helm's Deep. I blew up the wall for shits and giggles, but didn't need to. Its a lot of fun. After I win, I'll try the good side.

Anyway, I can do more at work now but the boss is on vacation which means I have less to do again, seeing as how she is the one who gives me stuff to do. Oh well, back to work.
